Job Description:

Westpoint Arena and Conference Centre, Exeter are looking for a full time live-in Cleaner / Caretaker to join the Works Team with accommodation included in the package.

Westpoint is the home of the Devon County Show and hosts events throughout the year. As a member of the Maintenance Team and Caretaker, you will work alongside the Works Team, helping to look after the venue and be the “out of hours” liaison with event organisers and other Showground and Arena users.

We would expect you to work up to three weekends out of four, as part of a 40hr week. You will also be the out of hours contact throughout the week, but we will ensure that you have at least two clear days per week when you are not required to be “on call”.

You will work as part of the Works Team. Responsibilities would include being the key holder for the site, opening and closing at the start and end of each day. During and at the end of events, you would carry out facility cleaning including toilet areas, vacuuming and washing floors. You would also work alongside the team performing basic maintenance repairs and safety checks, reporting issues to your line manager.

If you have First Aid qualifications and a forklift license this would be a bonus, but not essential. You do need a full driving license.

The scope of your work would be varied, so this is a really interesting role and you would be joining a committed and close knit team. You must be a team player who enjoys being part of a team.

The position includes accommodation in a two-bedroom cottage on site, which includes all bills. Prior experience of living on site in a previous role would be advantageous.

Salary package: £21,500 per annum plus accommodation inclusive of all utility bills and council tax. Overtime would be paid for pre-authorised additional hours.

Holidays: 28 days plus recognised public holidays (bank holidays are normal working days for the works team but time off in lieu would be applicable if rota’d to work a bank holiday). At the discretion of the organisation, additional holiday of up to 3 days may be granted at Christmas.

You are also entitled to an additional day’s holiday which is to be taken within 30 days of the last day of the Devon County Show.
