Job Vacancy at Westpoint – Works Operative

The Devon County Agricultural Association (DCAA) has played a leading role in the development of agriculture and the rural economy in Devon since its formation in 1872. It is a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity. Our flagship event is the Devon County Show, staged every third week of May at Westpoint near Exeter. The DCAA owns a subsidiary company, Westpoint Centre (Devon) Limited, that is charged with generating income from the buildings and land during the remaining 11 months of the year.

A rare and exciting opportunity has opened within the DCAA Works team for a Works Operative. Reporting to the Works Manager and working closely with the wider team, the role will be hands on, covering a broad range of tasks such as general site maintenance, grounds care and event support in our conference suite and arena, general building skills would be desirable as would a willingness to pitch in and work within the team on a wide variety of tasks from cleaning, switching room layouts and helping prepare for arena events. Due to the active nature of the job, a good level of fitness is required.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week. Regular weekend and evening work will be required. Hours will increase significantly around the Devon Country Show in May.

The successful applicant will have practical knowledge and skills to support those that already exist within the team. The applicant will need to be confident working as part of a team and will need to be able to turn their hand to a multitude of ad-hoc tasks that come with running such a wide variety of events and conferences. Good communication skills are essential. Fork-lift ticket would be desirable.

Salary: £24,380.00-£25,365.00 per year
